About Me: Brooke Marcano

I am a compassionate therapist, who strives to support clients through any challenges that might arise, holding space and providing support to move through tough times towards a place of acceptance and understanding. I astutely believe the body and mind have an innate wisdom to heal and create a sense of equilibrium and therapy provides the catalyst for growth and personal development.

My journey as a therapist started in 2010 when I graduated with a double bachelor degree in psychology and criminology and gained valuable experience in a variety of settings. Throughout my roles in Government, forensic and community health over the past 15 years, I thrived in supporting people work through challenging life events and circumstances, to tap into their resilience for growth and prosperity. Throughout my training and over the subsequent years I have developed skills using several modalities such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic approaches and Couples Counselling using Gottman Therapy.

In 2016 I found my passion for working as a trauma therapist and supporting people move through traumatic events and come through the other side. This propelled me into further training where I completed Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I am a fully qualified EMDR Practitioner, registered with EMDRAA and EMDR Consultant In Training (CIT). I have experience working with adults, couples, and children using EMDR. If you are seeking stronger connection to yourself or others, please get in touch today.

During the initial session, we will explore if we are a good fit for each other, as this is the most important part of the therapeutic process. My goal is to work along side you, supporting your needs and creating a safe environment. My therapeutic specialties include: trauma and complex ptsd (children and adults), addictions, family violence, relationships issues, children’s mental health, depression, anxiety.

I am a member of EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA) and Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
